Barangay health worker (BHW) refers to a person who has undergone training programs under any accredited government and non-government organization and who voluntarily renders primarily health care services in the community after having been accredited to function as such by the local health board in accordance with the guidelines promulgated by the Philippines Department of Health (DOH).[1] The Department of Preventive and Community Medicine (DPCM) of the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center, Inc. (UERMMMCI) trains 3rd year medical students on how to train barangay health workers. The Department currently supports the training of barangay health workers for Antipolo City and Barangay Doña Imelda of Quezon City.[2] [edit] Notes and references
