Bankenes Betalingssentral or BBS is a Norwegian company that provides centralised management of payment transactions, giro management and bank clearing. Among the more important solutions are Bankgiro, eFaktura and BankAxept. The company has also developed technology related to transactions and online banking services. BBS is owned by the banks in Norway and is based in Oslo. International recognition In October 2006, BBS and the Norweigan BankID Scheme were awarded the international "eema Award for Excellence in Secure Electronic Business". BBS participates in international expert groups such as European Committee for Banking Standards (Mobile Payments Workgroup, 2003-2005) and Mobey Forum (Mobile Authentication and Business Ecosystem workgroups, in 2005 and 2006). In January 2007, BBS arranged the world’s first international mobile signature based on the ETSI – MSS standards. BBS plays an active role linked to internationalisation and the development of global standards. For example, the company has led a number of work groups in the European Payment Council (EPC) and the European Committee for Banking Standards (ECBS). Quality BBS is certified by Det Norske Veritas in accordance with the international standard ISO 9001. In 2000, BBS were awarded the Norwegian quality prize. In 2002, BBS became the first business in Norway to be recognised for excellence in Europe by EFQM, the European quality price model.
