The Ballarat Football Club competes in the Ballarat Football League. The club, nicknamed the Swans has a history of dating back to 1860. Ballarat once competed in the Victorian Football Association .

Ballarat played their home matches at City Oval in Ballarat for 88 years and moved to Alfredton Recreation Reserve in 1994. Ballarat play in a predominately white strip with a red “vee”.
