The Australian National Kennel Council (ANKC) is the peak body in Australia responsible for promoting breeding, showing, trialling, obedience, and other canine-related activities and the ownership of temperamentally and physically sound purebred dogs by individuals across Australia. It was formed in Sydney in 1949. The ANKC conducts Annual National Breed Council Conferences. It represents the following State member bodies:
The President of the ANKC since 1998 has been Hugh Gent.[1]. Previous presidents were Mr A Howie (1959-1986) and Mr J G W Head (1986-1997). The Australian National Kennel Council is the only body recognized as member in Australia by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale.[2] [edit] External links
