Astrid Besser (born 1 September 1989 in Prato) is an Italian tennis player who plays professionally. She currently resides in Quarrata, Italy, and has many siblings. The Italian has played in the 2008 Gastein Ladies tennis tournament on the prestigious Women's Tennis Association's 2008 WTA Tour, along with Estonia's Maret Ani, but lost in the first round due to retirement to Andrea Hlaváčková and Lucie Hradecká. She competed once more on the tour at the 2008 Banka Koper Slovenia Open in Portorož, Slovenia, with Maja Kambic, losing to fourth seeds María José Martínez Sánchez and Arantxa Parra Santonja, 6-2, 6-2.^[1] Her highest singles ranking so far is World Number 393, a ranking which she managed to reach on 19 May 2008, and her highest doubles ranking, which was achieved on 16 June 2008, was World Number 401.
