Colleges in North America - Association of Accredited... aanmc.org |
The Association of Accredited Naturopathic Medical Colleges is a nonprofit association established in 2001 that represents the North American naturopathic medical schools accredited by one of the regional accrediting agencies approved by the U.S. Department of Education. Additionally, all member schools naturopathic medicine programs have been accredited by the Council on Naturopathic Medical Education (CNME), the recognized accreditor for naturopathic medicine programs in north America. These superior accredited colleges meet both federal and academic standards:
The mission of the association is to "propel and foster the naturopathic medical profession by actively supporting the academic efforts of accredited and recognized schools of naturopathic medicine".[1] The AANMC works actively at the state and provincial level promoting licensing efforts, advocating increased public safety and overall reduction of health care costs in the naturopathic, integrative and CAM communities. In the recent years the association has contributed significantly to reclassifying the ND degree as a U.S. first professional, increasing the federal student loan amounts and improving the licensing laws of New York, Illinois, District of Columbia, and the U.S. territories of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.[2] The AANMC supports member schools and colleges in an effort to improve their quality of education, operations, research and patient care; enhance their visibility; aid in the development, growth, and preservation of the naturopathic medical profession; foster collaboration between AANMC members and compatible organizations; and engage in activities, such as fundraising, in an effort to accomplish these shared goals.
