The Associate of Science (A.S.) is a two-year undergraduate Associate's degree offered by many community colleges or junior colleges and vocational schools. Such a degree transfers to four-year institutions which offer full Bachelor of Science degrees.

A.S. programs provide you with the knowledge necessary to perform and excel in a particular profession. Some of the credits earned in an A.S. degree program can be transferred to a four-year college or university. Unlike the A.A. degree, sometimes the A.S. curriculum is not considered equal to the first two years of a bachelors degree.

A student normally completes at least forty-eight semester hours, although most likely sixty hours, with an average of 2.0 or better to obtain an associate's degree.
