Ashwini Kalsekar is an Indian soap opera actress. She is best known to television audiences for her role as the scheming aunt Jigyaasa in Ekta Kapoor's Kasamh Se. She is a very well known and respected television and film actress.

Ashwini Kalsekar was born in 1970 near Nasik in Maharashtra. Her father Dr. Vaibhav Kalsekar is a railways doctor. Ashwini studied her B.A from Bombay and graduated in 1991. She pursued theatre from 1991-1994 as an understudy, her most famous period being from 1992-1993 when she was an understudy to famous actress Neena Gupta.

She also trained under Muzammeel Vakil- the famous theatre acting coach from 1992-1995.Most of her theatre work required her to speak English and Hindi only and she has had very little experience in regional theatre.

In 1996- Ashwini found a break in Marathi Film Tula Jhapar La in a small role of a tough prostitute. This was followed by a number of important films in Marathi where she played supporting actress including Dr. Vasant Deshmane and Neta Varla.

She started acting in serials in the 2000's- such as C.I.D, Anjaane, Siddhant, Jeete Hain Jiske Liye and K Street Pali Hill before her biggest role of Jigyaasa Bani's Tormentor in Kasamh Se for which Ashwini won the Best performance in a negative role ITV Award.

She continues to act in high profile television serials today.

She is married to Murli Sharma- a prominent supporting actor in films (Best known for his roles in Main Hoon Na, Dhol and Sunday) as of 2003. The couple have a son- Ajesh born in 2005 and presently aged 4.
