Asad Naqvi, born 12 May 1972, is a Pakistani mathematical physicist, specialized in theoretical physics and Superstring theory[1]. He is an Associate Professor of Physics at the School of Science and Engineering, Lahore University of Management Sciences[2]. Before joining LUMS, he was a lecturer of Physics at University of Wales, Swansea. He is a keen researcher in the field of string theory and quantum gravity. He has produced various scientific articles in the field of string theory.
[edit] EducationNaqvi was born in Karachi, Pakistan. He received his elementary and intermediate education from there. In 1990, he attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology, majoring in Physics and Electrical Engineering[3]. He received his B.Sc in physics and electrical engineering with honors, followed by M.Sc. in Mathematical Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1996[3]. Later in 1996, he received his Ph.D in theoretical physics from MIT in 1998, he also specialized in string theory from there[3]. [edit] CareerAfter completing his formal education, he held post-doctoral positions at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Amsterdam before joining the University of Wales, Swansea in October 2005 as an assistant professor[1]. He served at the University of Wales for around three years. He moved to LUMS SSE when it started in 2008 and left it in 2009. He is now serving at the Institute for Advanced Study for one year as a visiting scientist. [edit] ResearchDr Naqvi works on problems in mathematical physics, in particular string theory. One of the aims of string theory is to combine quantum mechanics and general relativity into a single coherent formalism[4]. [edit] Research publications
