Anthony Adams (born on June 18, 1980 in Detroit, Michigan) is a player in the National Football League. He plays for the Chicago Bears, and previously played for the San Francisco 49ers. He graduated from Penn State University.

Adams attended Martin Luther King Jr. High School in Detroit, Michigan and was a letterman in football and in track and field as a shot-put thrower. In football, he was a USA Today All-USA Honorable Mention selection. Anthony Adams graduated from Martin Luther King Jr. High School in 1998.

Adams attended Penn State University and finished his college career with 6.5 sacks, 166 tackles, three forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries.

He received a bachelor's degree in business management from Penn State in 2005.[1]

The San Francisco 49ers drafted Adams as the 57th overall selection of the 2003 NFL Draft. He was used sparingly on the 49ers defense. During his tenure with the 49ers, he amassed 155 tackles and six sacks in 58 career games with 34 starts. The Chicago Bears signed Adams during the 2007 season, following the loss of defensive lineman Ian Scott, Alfonso Boone, and possible absence of Tank Johnson and Tommie Harris.[2]

As of September 14, 2009 After Week 1 vs. The Green Bay Packers, Anthony Adams has 183 tackles.

Adams and his wife, Andenika, have a baby boy, Anthony Adams III, January 2008.

Teammates have bestowed several nicknames on Adams: Former 49ers teammate Bryant Young dubbed him "Double A" not only for his initials but also for his suspicion that Adams' extra energy came from batteries. His Penn State teammates nicknamed him "Spice."[1]

Adams was voted "Mama's Boy" his senior year at Martin Luther King High School in Detroit.[1]

Adams was given the game ball on October 5, 2008 after the Bears 34-7 win over the Lions

Anthony Adams gives back to his community. In 2006, Anthony donated to a program in his hometown, Detroit, called Youthville. He gave away 2 Super Bowl XL tickets to a student that improved their G.P.A. the most. The recipient was Daniel Billingslea, a 7th grader from University Public School.

In 2009, Adams went to visit some Chicago Public Schools and help student write letters to troops out at war.
