The Three Musketeers (アニメ三銃士 Anime Sanjushi) is a 1987 Japanese animated television series based on the d'Artagnan Romances written by Alexandre Dumas. A feature film sequel, Anime Sanjushi: Aramis no Bouken, was released in 1989.
[edit] Plotd'Artagnan leaves his hometown of Gascogne for Paris in order to join the King's Musketeers or the Guards of the Cardinal. At his arrival, he went into an argument with Athos, Porthos and Aramis and provokes them into a duel. At the time of the duel, they were interrupted by the Guards of the Cardinal who are enforcing the King's decree banning duels. Afterwards, d'Artagnan and company became friends and adopted the motto, "all for one, and one for all". [edit] Cast
[edit] Comparison with the source materialSeveral changes were made in adapting the Romances to television. The action occurs in the matter of months instead of years, exemplified with Man in the Iron Mask storyline taking place much earlier than in Dumas' novel. D'Artagnan is much younger in the TV series, while Aramis is a woman who disguised herself as a man to join the musketeers.[1] [edit] References[edit] External links
