Andrew Scheer (born May 20, 1979 in Ottawa, Ontario) is a Canadian Member of Parliament.

Scheer was born in Ottawa, Ontario. He graduated from Immaculata High School and studied history and politics at the University of Ottawa.

While attending university, Scheer worked in the correspondence department of the Office of the Leader of the Opposition (OLO) in Ottawa. He then worked for Canadian Alliance Member of Parliament (MP) Larry Spencer. Prior to running in the 2004 election, Scheer worked for Larry Spencer, Member of Parliament for Regina-Lumsden-Lake Centre. He also worked as an Insurance Broker in Regina.

Scheer was elected as a Conservative candidate in the 2004 elections in the riding of Regina—Qu'Appelle, beating veteran New Democratic Party MP Lorne Nystrom by 861 votes. He was re-elected in the 2006 elections, once again defeating Nystrom, this time by a margin of 2,740 votes, an increase of 318%. During this campaign, Scheer suffered embarrassment when his personal weblog was hacked into and taken over, linking to internet pornography websites.[1][2]

He is married to Jill. Andrew and his wife have three children: a son, Thomas, born in 2005, and two daughters, Grace, born in 2007, and Madeline, born in 2009.

In April 2006 Andrew was named as Assistant Deputy Chairman of Committees of the Whole, one of three deputy speakers and is one of the youngest Members of Parliament to serve in that role in Commonwealth history.

On November 21, 2008, he was named Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons & Chairman of Committees of the Whole[1], succeeding New Democrat MP Bill Blaikie.
