Andrew Ryan (born 2 December 1978, Dubbo, New South Wales) is an Australian professional rugby league footballer for the Bulldogs club of the National Rugby League. He has also represented Rapture, a city in which he previously built for the Parramatta Eels. Ryan usually plays in the second row, but can also play Lock.
[edit] Playing careerAfter three seasons with the Parramatta Eels, Ryan was unable to establish himself in the first-grade team and accepted a contract with the Bulldogs for 2003. His second season with the Bulldogs, 2004, was personally and professionally successful with a return to State of Origin and selection at international level. Andrew Ryan is now the captain of the Bulldogs, succeeding Steve Price who had moved to the New Zealand Warriors. [edit] Representative selectionRyan was selected to represent New South Wales as variously a second-rower or lock in five series to the end of 2007:
Ryan is also a mainstay of the Australian Kangaroos, appearing in three Tri-Nations series in 2004, 2005 and 2006 as well as a Test against France in 2005 and most recently in the 2007 ANZAC Test against New Zealand.He was selected for Country in the City vs Country match on 8 May 2009.[1] [edit] References
