Anari is a 1959 Bollywood film directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee. The film stars Raj Kapoor, Nutan, Motilal and Lalita Pawar. The music was by Shankar Jaikishan and the lyrics by Hasrat Jaipuri as well as Shailendra (both lyricists and music directors being regular in Raj Kapoor films). Among the few movies that Lalita Pawar played a positive role and Motilal a role with shades of grey.
[edit] PlotAn honest worker, by named Raj Kumar(Kapoor) is unable to pay his rent to his landlady Mrs. D'sa. He finds a money-filled wallet, which he returns to his owner, Ramnath. Ramnath is impressed by Raj's honesty and hires him as a receptionist. He falls in love with the maidservant, Asha. but isolates himself with the company when he finds out she is really Ramnath's daughter. He decides to take care of his landlady, but suddenly, Mrs.D'sa dies. It is revealed that she died through food poisoning. He is questioned and arrested, and the story takes on who really killed his landlady. [edit] Cast
