American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is an academic society founded in 1906. ASBMB was founded by members of the American Physiological Society and was originally called the American Society of Biological Chemists. They adopted their current name in 1987. ASBMB is currently based on the campus of the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology in Bethesda, Maryland.
