(AMR) is the largest private ambulance provider in the United States.[1] AMR and EmCare are wholly owned subsidiaries of EMSC L.P., an emergency management company held by the investment firm Onex. AMR has headquarters in Greenwood Village, Colorado.
[edit] Emergency servicesAMR is locally operated in 37 states and the District of Columbia. More than 18,500 AMR paramedics, EMTs, RN's and other professionals, with a fleet of 4,200 vehicles, transport nearly four million patients nationwide each year in critical, emergency and non-emergency situations. [edit] Community and charitable activitiesAMR participates in a number of community projects and charitable activities. These include the AMR Home for the Holidays program which provides residents of long-term care facilities with free transportation to the homes of friends and family.[2] They also provide the Sentimental Journey program,[3] which provides hospice patients with free ambulance transportation to a destination of their choice to help fulfill a final wish. This program won the 2008 American Business AwardsSM “Stevie Award” for Best Corporate Social Responsibility Program. In addition, AMR paramedics and EMTs across the country have been recognized[4] for their outstanding service and dedication to communities in need.
