Amaechi Igwe (born May 20, 1988 in Belmont, California) is an American soccer player who currently plays for New England Revolution in Major League Soccer.
[edit] Career[edit] CollegeIgwe played college soccer at Santa Clara University, where he played forward and scored five goals and had three assists to finish third on the team in scoring. Both his sister, Chioma, and his older brother, Kelechi, played at Santa Clara. [edit] ProfessionalIgwe was drafted in the 1st round, 12th overall in the 2007 MLS SuperDraft by New England Revolution. During the 2007 season, Igwe appeared regularly for the Revolution reserves squad - scoring one goal in eleven appearances - but did not see any time for the first team. He made his MLS debut on April 9, 2008 against the Kansas City Wizards.
