Alvin Ackerley is a former professional rugby league footballer of the 1940s and '50s who at representative level has played for Great Britain, England, and Cumberland, and at club level for Halifax RLFC, playing at Hooker, i.e. number 9, during the era of contested scrums.

Alvin Ackerley won caps for England while at Halifax in 1952 against Other Nations (2 matches), and Wales, in 1953 against France (2 matches), and Wales, and won caps for Great Britain while at Halifax in 1952 against Australia, and in 1958 against New Zealand.[1]

Alvin Ackerley played Hooker, i.e. number 9, and was captain in Halifax RLFC’s 4-4 draw with Warrington in the 1954 Challenge Cup final at Wembley Stadium on the 1st May 1954, and the 4-18 defeat in the 1954 Challenge Cup final replay at Odsal Stadium, Bradford on the 5th May 1954 in front of a 102,569+ crowd.
