Alphonse James Schladweiler (July 18, 1902-April 3, 1996) was the first Roman Catholic bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of New Ulm, in New Ulm, Minnesota.[1]

Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Schladweiler was ordained a Roman Catholic priest for the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis on June 9, 1927.[2] On November 28, 1957, Pope Pius XII appointed Schaldweiler the first bishop of the newly created Diocese of New Ulm.[3] On January 29, 1958, he was ordained a bishop and was installed the bishop of the diocese on January 30, 1958. Bishop Schladweiler retired on December 23, 1975; he died in New Ulm.[4]
