Alice Aycock (born November 20, 1946) is an American sculptor. [edit] BiographyAycock studied at Douglass College in New Brunswick, New Jersey graduating with a bachelor of arts in 1968, she then went to New York where she studied for her masters at Hunter College where she was taught and supervised by Robert Morris, she graduated in 1971. Her early sculptures were site specific and were largely made from wood and stone, in the 1980s she began to use steel. She has created installations at the Museum of Modern Art, New York (1977), the San Francisco Art Institute (1979), Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago (1983), and outside the United States including Israel, Germany, The Netherlands, Italy, Switzerland, and Japan. In 1983 a retrospective exhibition was organized by the Württembergischer Kunstverein and traveled in Germany, The Netherlands, and Switzerland. She is currently a member of the faculty at the School of Visual Arts in New York. Her current projects include the Ghost Ballet for the East Bank Machineworks a public sculpture placed on the Cumberland River in Nashville Tennessee and The Uncertainty of Ground State Fluctuations in Clayton, Missouri.
