The Algerian national ice hockey team is the national men's ice hockey team of Algeria. Formed in 2006, Algeria currently applying to become a member of the IIHF. The national team was formed with the increasing number of Algerians who are playing ice hockey around the world.
In June 2008 Algeria will competed in the inaugural Arab Cup of Ice Hockey in Abu Dhabi, also involving the national teams of Morocco, UAE and Kuwait. Algeria finished fourth, with Algerian forward Harond Litim winning most valuable player of the tournament award.
The most high profile player of Algerian origin is Josef Boumedienne who played for Tampa Bay Lightning, New Jersey Devils and Washington Capitals in the NHL. Boumedienne has agreed in principle to be involved with the Algerian national team, however it's not sure in which capacity.
