Alfredo Amézaga Delgado (born January 16, 1978, in Ciudad Obregón, Sonora, Mexico) is a Major League Baseball utility player who is currently a free agent. He is nicknamed "The Amazing Amezaga" because of his ability to make great defensive plays.[citation needed]
Amézaga, who was drafted one spot ahead of Albert Pujols at 401st overall in the 1999 Draft, made his Major League Baseball debut with the Anaheim Angels on May 24, 2002.
Amézaga, is considered one of the best defensive shortstops in the MLB today. His ability to make unbelievable stops make him a human highlight reel. Amezaga is also known as a utility player. He has played 1st base, 2nd base, 3rd base, shortstop, left field, right field and center field.
On December 12, 2009, Amezaga was non-tendered by the Florida Marlins making him a free agent.
