aleo solar AG (ISIN:DE000A0JM634) is a company of the solar industry with headquarters in Prenzlau and Oldenburg Germany. The company was founded in 2001 as S.M.D. Solar-Manufaktur Deutschland GmbH & Co.KG in Prenzlau and started in August 2002 with the production of solar modules. In 2005 the S.M.D. was renamed in aleo solar AG and aleo solar GmbH in aleo solar Deutschland GmbH. The company went public in July 2006 and is listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange (ISIN: DE000A0JM634). The aleo group had approximately 555 employees at the end of 2007.

Locations of aleo solar or subsidiary companies are, in addition to the production in Prenzlau the administrative headquarters in Oldenburg (Lower Saxony). Furthermore there is a production at Santa Maria de Palautordera (Spain, north of Barcelona) and through the 19% holding in Johanna Solar Technology GmbH in Brandenburg an der Havel. The annual production capacity in Prenzlau of 90 megawatts is currently (August 2008) doubled to 180 megawatts. The site in Spain has a production capacity of 10 megawatts.

The aleo solar AG holds 100% of the shares of aleo solar Deutschland GmbH, aleo solar Italia Srl, aleo solar España SL, aleo solar distribución España SL and 19% of Johanna Solar Technology GmbH. Since early 2008, aleo solar AG is involved in a joint venture with 50 percent with the Sunvim Group Co. Ltd. at the Avimer solar Co. Ltd. to build a solar-production in the Chinese Gaomi (Shandong Province).
