Albert Serrán Polo (born July 17, 1984 in Barcelona) is a Spanish footballer who currently plays with Swansea City in the Football League Championship, as a defender.

[edit] Football career

A product of RCD Espanyol's youth system, Serrán appeared in three first division matches from 2007-08 (his debut coming on March 11, in a 1-1 draw at Racing de Santander) while still registered with the B team.

Deemed surplus to requirements following Tintín Márquez's appointment to the managerial post at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, Serrán signed a three-year deal with Welsh club Swansea City, in the English second level, with teammate Jordi Gómez also making the move, on a loan deal.[1]The link contained a buy-back clause that allowed Espanyol to re-sign the player at a later date, but it was later revealed that such clause did not exist; however, the Catalonian side retained the first option should Swansea wish to sell in future.[2]
