Alaskozetes antarcticus is a species of non-parasitic mite, known for its capability to survive in subzero temperatures.[1] This insects name comes from its odd habitat Alasko, meaning from Alaska, and antarcticus, which is in connection with frigid conditions the mite lives in. Scientists remain inquisitive as to how the Alaskozetes antacticus has been able to adapt to an environment that is not common with many other insects. Where most of the anamalia in the Alaskozetes' phylum inhabit hot moist environments with high humidity the Alaskozetes survives in freezing conditions with near zero air moisture..[2] It also has six eyes to absorb sunlight.
