Hussein I Bey (First Bey of Tunis, Tunisia)

Al-Husayn I ibn Ali at-Turki (1669–1740) was the founder of the Husainid Dynasty. He overthrew the Ottoman Dey of the ruling Muradid Dynasty in Tunis and ruled from 1705 to 1735.

He was of Cretian origin, although it is not known for sure whether Greek or Turkish.
