Adam Watene (20 July 1977 – 12 October 2008) was a Cook Islands rugby league player. He played as a prop for Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, Bradford Bulls, Castleford Tigers and represented the Cook Islands.
[edit] CareerIn 2005 Watene helped the Castleford Tigers gain promotion to Super League. He was signed by Brian Noble in 2006 for the Bradford Bulls[1] but only spent one year at the club before leaving for the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.[2] In 2007 Watene was one of Wakefield's best players, despite only scoring one try[citation needed]. [edit] DeathOn 13 October 2008 Wakefield announced that he died of a suspected heart attack at the age of 31 after collapsing during a weight training session in the gym.[3][4] [edit] Personal lifeWatene had a wife and two children, he was also the cousin of Frank Watene who plays for Halifax RLFC.
