[edit] Luis Muñoz
Luis Manuel Muñoz (born January 10, 1982, in San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic) is a right-handed starting pitcher in the Seattle Mariners organization. He was originally signed by scout Jose Luna as an 18-year old amateur free agent by the Pittsburgh Pirates on July 3, 2000, and made his professional debut with the Dominican Summer League Pirates in 2001. On October 21, 2007, the Pittsburgh Tribune Review article "Pirates make roster moves" noted that "right-hander Luis Munoz was placed on the 40-man roster, a reward for a solid season at Class AA Altoona." In 2007, Munoz had the second-lowest ERA in Altoona (3.57), most wins (14), and was third in strikeouts with 105. On July 5, 2008, Munoz allowed no runs and only 3 hits in his third game of the season for the Altoona Curve. He was called up by the Pirates on July 10, 2008, but sent down the next day without appearing in a game.
