Adam Scott Bostick (born March 17, 1983 in Jeannette, Pennsylvania) is an American left-handed pitcher for the Kansas City Royals organization.
[edit] High schoolBostick graduated from Greensburg-Salem High School of Greensburg, Pennsylvania.[1] He hailed from New Salem Acres Rental Community. Bostick was not only a baseball player at Greensburg Salem, but also a standout on the gridiron. He was a three year starter at quarterback and free safety while also handling the punting duties from 1998-2000. In 1998, he led the Golden Lions to the WPIAL playoffs for the first time in four years. Once there, he quarterbacked the Lions to an upset of the #1 ranked Franklin Regional Panthers. The next week, he threw a touchdown pass late in the fourth quarter to tie the quarterfinal playoff game before eventual WPIAL champion and state runner-up New Castle marched to win the game on a field goal at the final gun. In 1999, Bostick led the Lions to an 8-1 record and the school's first AAAA conference championship since 1973. In 2000, after a return to AAA football Bostick led one of the highest scoring offenses in the WPIAL back to the playoffs for the third consecutive year. Bostick's final home game was a 23-0 playoff win over Hopewell (a team that featured future Penn State and NFL star Paul Pozluzney). The Lions march (and Bostick's high school career) to Three Rivers Stadium ended the next week as GSHS lost eventual state champion and (future Pitt quarterback) Tyler Palko and his West Allegheny Indians. [edit] Professional career[edit] Florida MarlinsBostick was drafted out of high school by the Florida Marlins in the sixth round of the 2001 draft. His contract was worth $150,000.[2] In 2002, he had season-ending surgery to transpose a nerve in his elbow. After returning in 2004, Bostick was used exclusively as a starting pitcher in the Marlins minor league system.[3] [edit] New York MetsOn November 20, 2006, the New York Mets acquired Bostick and left-handed pitcher Jason Vargas from the Florida Marlins in exchange for right-handed pitchers Henry Owens and Matt Lindstrom.[4] Bostick was optioned to the New York Mets AAA affiliate, the New Orleans Zephyrs on March 8, 2007.[5] He was out-righted from the Mets 40-man roster at the conclusion of the 2008 season after being limited to just 10 games by a left-knee injury that required surgery. He was resigned to a minor league deal on December 2, 2008 for the 2009 season.[6] [edit] Miscellaneous
