Abraham Lincoln University is an educational institution specializing in legal education. Its classes are given through the Internet and on campus in downtown Los Angeles where local students may attend live classes week-nights and on Saturdays. Upon the completion of required classes, students are awarded a Juris Doctor degree and are eligible to sit for the California Bar Exam. Classes are archived online for review during each semester. However, this institution is not accredited by the American Bar Association ^[1]. Nor is it accredited by the California Committee of Bar Examineers. ^[2] Therefore, students must take and pass the California First-Year Law Students' Examination ("Baby Bar") after the first year of law study. Failure to pass the "Baby Bar" means the student cannot take more advanced law courses. Completion of the advanced law courses is required to take the State Bar Examination. ^[3]

In October 2006, 113 students took the California First-Year Law Students' Examination (the "Baby Bar") for the first time. Twenty-two passed. Fifty-nine students took this examination after previously failing it at least once. Eleven passed. ^[4]

In the July 2006 California Bar Examination, sixteen graduates took the examination for the first time. None passed. Thirty took the examination for, at least, a second time after previously failing it. Two passed. ^[5]

Data for more recent administrations is similar. Of the 76 Abraham Lincoln students who took the February 2009 California Bar Exam, 5 passed, for a 6.5% pass rate. Similarly, Abraham Lincoln students taking the October 2008 "Baby Bar" passed at a rate of 10.1%.
