Aberdeen Asset Management plc (LSE: ADN) is an international investment management group, managing assets for both institutions and private individuals from offices around the world. It is based in Aberdeen, Scotland. The company is a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index.

The company was established in 1983 by way of a management buy-out.[1] It was first listed on the London Stock Exchange in 1991. [1] In 2000 it acquired Murray Johnstone, Edinburgh Fund Managers in 2003, Deutsche Asset Management and Glasgow Investment Managers in 2007, Goodman Property Investors in 2008, and certain investment businesses of Credit Suisse Asset Management in 2009.[1]
The Company sponsored The Boat Race between 1998 and 2004, and currently sponsors Edinburgh Rugby Club and a number of golfers including Colin Montgomerie.

The company operates mainly in the United Kingdom but has a growing presence worldwide, particularly Asia, Oceania and the Americas, with over 1,700 staff, across 27 offices in 22 countries. As of 30 September 2009 it had funds under management of £146.5 billion.[2]
