Abel Gómez Moreno, commonly known as Abel (born 20 February 1982 in Seville, Andalusia), is a Spanish footballer who currently plays for Xerez CD, as a midfielder.

After beginning professionally with Sevilla FC's B team, Abel joined Andalusian neighbours Málaga CF in the same predicament, helping it to a two-year second division stint.

The following season, he signed with Real Murcia, being instrumental in its return to the top flight after a three-year absence, although an immediate relegation would befall in 2008.

In the 2008 summer, Abel signed with FC Steaua Bucureşti, resigning after only four months with the team.^[1]He returned to Spain and its second division, joining Xerez CD in late January 2009, still being able to contribute with 15 matches (12 starts) to the club's first-ever top flight promotion.
