900 series refers to three consecutive perfect games bowled by an individual bowler. A 300 is a perfect score in one game, thus a player's score would be 900 in a series of three consecutive games.

On July 1, 1982, Glenn Allison recorded the first 900 series, although it was not officially sanctioned by the American Bowling Congress.[1] In recent years the number of 900 series bowled has increased despite a decreasing number in total bowlers, leading to arguments that bowling a 900 series is not as exceptional a feat as it once was.[2]

Robert Mushtare, a young amateur bowler, claims to have bowled numerous 900 series. His claims were the subject of an ESPN feature on Outside the Lines.[3] His feat, while spectacular if true, is considered by some critics to be fraudulent.[4] Mushtare claims to have bowled three 900 series, but only two were officially certified by the Bowling Congress. Mushtare was only able to bowl an average of 185.7 in the Junior Gold Championships in 2006, and he didn't advance to the semifinals.[5] Despite not winning the championship, the Junior Team USA coach Rod Ross said, "He throws a phenomenal ball and has a nice loose arm swing. He has a lot of raw talent. He can definitely strike and strike a lot, and there's no doubt in my mind that he shot those 900s."
