Theodoric, king of the Ostrogoths, continues his invasion of Italy with the approval of Byzantine emperor Zeno.
August 28—Theodoric defeats Odoacer at the Battle of Isonzo, forcing his way into Italy.
September 27 – Battle of Verona: Odoacer attacks Theodoric again, and is defeated a second time.
