[edit] Structure3-Hydroxyacyl CoA dehydrogenase, also known as Beta-hydroxyacyl dehydrogenase was extracted from Escherichia coli. It is a polypeptide 293 residues in length and consists of 52% alpha helices and 14% beta sheets. Its structure was determined using X-Ray Diffraction with a resolution of 2.00A. Specifically it catalyzes the third step of beta oxidation; the oxidation of L-3-hydroxyacyl CoA by NAD+. The reaction converts the hydroxyl group into a keto group. The end product is 3-ketoacyl CoA. [edit] Referenceshttp://www.rcsb.org/pdb/explore.do?structureId=1ZEJ
