The 2009 European Figure Skating Championships was the European Figure Skating Championships of the 2008/2009 season. Skaters competed in the categories of men's singles, ladies singles, pairs, and ice dancing. Skaters must have reached the age of 15 by July 1, 2008 in order to compete. The competition was open to skaters from a European Member nation of the International Skating Union. The corresponding competition for non-European skaters was the 2009 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships.

The 2009 competition was held from January 20 through January 25, 2009, at Hartwall Areena in Helsinki, Finland.

Each country was allowed one entry per event by default. Countries may earn more spots based on their performance at the previous year's championships. The following countries earned more than one entry per event for the 2009 European Championships based on their performance at the 2008 European Figure Skating Championships.[1]
