1FLTV (presumably: 1 Fürstentum Liechtenstein Television) is Liechtenstein's only television broadcaster. It began operation on 15 August 2008 in the German language.
On August 15, 2008, 1FLTV began operation after being licensed by the Liechtenstein government.[1] It broadcasts in German and is the business venture of Austrian businessmen Beatrix Schartl.[2]
[edit] Eurovision Song Contest
The people of Liechtenstein have always had an interest in participating in the Eurovision Song Contest, however this was not possible as the country did not have a TV channel of its own, if the channel joins the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) the country will be eligible to take part in the Eurovision Song Contest. Liechtenstein had previously attempted to participate in 1969 and 1976, but was disqualified for not having a national broadcaster.[1]
