In August Bishop Harper resigns as Bishop of Dunedin, and therefore Primate of New Zealand, his resignation to take effect from March the following year.[5] Bishop Hadfield is chosen as the next Primate of New Zealand, the validity of a decision to make such a choice before Bishop Harper's resignation would take effect being questioned by Bishop Suter.[6]
