İsmail Acar (born 1971) is a Turkish painter. He graduated with honors in 1991 from Marmara University in Istanbul, Turkey. In 1993, Acar received his Master of Arts degree in "Technology and Art", as well as in "Postmodernism".

In 2004, Acar was awarded "The Most Successful Artist of Turkey". His paintings have been exhibited exhibited in over sixty solo and well over forty joint exhibitions as of 2006. He often applies contemporary media techniques, including computer technology, to traditional painting techniques. The artist has created works on themes such as history, particularly that of Istanbul, and the meeting of Western ideas with Eastern spirituality.

In 1999 Acar held an exhibition in the Hagia Sophia Museum in Istanbul, first such event in its 1,600-year-old history, which 350,000 people visited. This exhibition was also the theme of a documentary film by Serpil Boydak. In 2000, Acar painted the world's largest open-air wall-art project in Kaş port, Antalya, entitled Clean Nature Clean World. It is 350 metres wide and it can be seen from a 5 km distance. Other major exhibitions of Acar were held in the Topkapi Palace Museum and the Military Museum in Istanbul, the Museum of Painting and Sculpture in Ankara, and the Museum of Painting and Sculpture in Izmir. He also held exhibitions in Geneva, Prague and Saint Tropez in 2001, Davos, Switzerland in January 2003, and Tokyo, Japan, and New York in February 2003. In May 2005, he exhibited the Melange Objects exhibition at the Camps Elysees in Paris.

His Sultans in Venice exhibition was a major three-part art event held during the 51st International Biennale of Venice in June 2005, which was organized by the Venetian curator Umberto Branchini. The Installations of the Sultans in Venice, curated by Branchini, was held in 20 different terraces along the Grand Canal. The Red Room and the White Room Exhibitions at The Institute of Science, Literature and Arts, in Grand Canal, Venice was also organized by Branchini.
