EDHEC or École De Hautes Études Commerciales du Nord is one of the main business schools and grande écoles in France. Founded in 1906, EDHEC has three campuses, in Lille, Nice, and Paris' La Defense business district. EDHEC's Nice campus was absorbed when it acquired the Espeme bachelor program and the Theseus International Management Institute. Its Paris campus was founded in 2006 to expand its executive eduation program. EDHEC is EQUIS accredited by the EFMD (European Foundation for Management Education), and AMBA accredited for the EDHEC MBA and Part-Time Executive MBAs programmes and by the AACSB, and the Conference Of The Grandes Ecoles.
[edit] ProgrammesEDHEC offers bachelor, Master of Science, and doctorate degrees in a variety of disciplines including finance, marketing, and management. The school also has two Masters in Business Administration (MBA) programs, one is full time and another is a part time executive MBA. Advanced degrees are taught either wholly English or in a mixture French and English, while the ESPEME bachelor degree which is taught entirely in French. [edit] RankingThe school is usually ranked in the top 5 business schools in France, along with HEC, ESSEC, ESCP Europe, and EM Lyon. (INSEAD ranks first in the MBA category). SIGEM, the state institution responsible for grande ecole testing, has consistently rated it 5th among French "classe preparatoire" business schools. In 2008 The Financial Times ranked its Masters in Management program 5th in France, and 7th in Europe. In 2007, The Economist magazine ranked its MBA program 4th. More importantly, according to the Financial Times, the school generally ranks in the top 10 in Europe in the Master in Management category. In 2009 the leading economic newsweekly Le Point ranked EDHEC Business School Np.1 in France for Finance, with a perfect score of 100. Ranked second is the prestigious HEC with a score of 72. Third in the ranking is ESSEC with a total score of 39. The EDHEC Risk and Asset Management Research Center is ranked No.1 in Europe. [edit] ResearchEDHEC Business School is involved in academic research and has launched its Research For Business [1] policy, that states objectives for EDHEC research. The EDHEC RAM center produces hedge funds style indexes, which are similar in purpose to CSFB/Tremont indexes on its website. It is publishing a return based style analysis ranking of European mutual funds with Europerformance (see [2]). The EDHEC-RAM is sponsored by financial organizations such as Euronext, Lyxor AM and Eurex. As a business school, EDHEC has chosen to conduct applied research in the fields of finance, business law, marketing and management. - Finance, with the EDHEC Risk and Asset Management Research Centre Created in 2001 and ranked No.1 in Europe, this centre does research in asset management, most particularly in the organisation and improvement of risk management. - Accounting and financial analysis with the EDHEC Financial Analysis and Accounting Research Centre Created in 2006, the EDHEC Financial Analysis and Accounting Research Centre works on the choice of discount rate in company valuation and in particular on the integration of systemic accounting risk. - Marketing, with InteraCT Created in 2006, Interact is a research centre dedicated to research about cultural approaches to consumption and related marketing strategies - Economics, with the EDHEC Economics Research Centre on Evaluation of Public Policy and State Reform. - Legal, with LegalEdhec Research Centre. The LegalEDHEC Research Centre has Legal Performance and Company Competitiveness as a subtitle.At the heart of the Centre then is the notion of legal performance and its variations. - Leadership, with ICODe Research Centre ICODe's mission is to support management in its work on the new leadership/legitimacy practices and in its exercise of managerial responsibilities/activities in the field of corporate governance.
